Rabbit’s R1
Developers from the community group Rabbitude discovered a major vulnerability in Rabbit's R1 AI assistant, exposing user data and chat responses. They found hardcoded API keys in Rabbit’s codebase, allowing access to all R1 responses and control over the devices. Despite being informed in mid-May, Rabbit did not act on the issue. Rabbit acknowledged the breach but claimed no customer data was leaked.
YouTube
YouTube is negotiating with major record labels like Universal, Sony, and Warner to license music for training its AI music tools. The platform aims to pay lump sums for licensing rather than royalties. This follows concerns from artists and labels about AI's impact on music rights. Recent lawsuits by the RIAA against AI companies Suno and Udio underscore the tensions around AI-generated music.
Amazon
Amazon is developing Metis, an AI chatbot to rival ChatGPT, set to launch in September. Metis will offer text and image responses, source linking, follow-up question suggestions, and real-time data access via Retrieval Augmented Generation. It will also automate tasks, integrating with the “Remarkable Alexa” project. Powered by Amazon’s Olympus model with hundreds of billions of parameters, Metis aims to surpass current competitors.
