Ilya Sutskever, OpenAI’s co-founder, has launched Safe Superintelligence Inc. (SSI) with ex-Y Combinator partner Daniel Gross and ex-OpenAI engineer Daniel Levy, one month after leaving OpenAI.
SSI aims to advance AI capabilities while ensuring safety, focusing on engineering and scientific breakthroughs.
Unlike OpenAI, SSI is designed as a for-profit entity, with offices in Palo Alto and Tel Aviv. Sutskever's commitment to AI safety remains central to the new venture.
Meta's Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) group released new open-source AI models and techniques, including -
Chameleon, which handles image, audio, and text inputs.
JASCO, a controllable text-to-music model.
AudioSeal, an audio watermarking model for detecting AI-generated speech.
The Multi-Token Prediction model aims to improve code autocompletion by predicting multiple tokens simultaneously.
Dell, Nvidia, and Super Micro Computer are collaborating to build an AI factory for xAI’s supercomputer, which will train and scale its Grok AI chatbot.
Dell and Super Micro are splitting the assembly of the server racks, with the system planned to use up to 100,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs.
The supercomputer, set to be operational by Fall 2025, could be four times larger than the biggest existing AI clusters.
