Apple

Apple has appointed App Store chief Phil Schiller to represent the company on OpenAI's nonprofit board in a non-voting observer role, according to Bloomberg. This position allows Schiller to attend board meetings and learn about OpenAI’s operations as Apple integrates ChatGPT into iOS and macOS. This move follows Microsoft's similar observer role on OpenAI’s board.

Google’s 2024 Environmental Report

Google’s 2024 Environmental Report highlights its tech solutions for environmental issues but avoids detailing AI energy usage. The report praises AI's potential in climate applications and outlines efforts like water replenishment, achieving 18% offset. Yet, it glosses over AI's significant energy demands, citing "complex and evolving" impacts without specific data. Google's emissions have risen yearly since 2020, contradicting its net-zero goal by 2030.

Figma CEO Dylan F

Figma CEO Dylan Field announced the temporary disabling of the “Make Design” AI feature, following claims it was replicating Apple's Weather app designs. The issue was highlighted by Andy Allen of NotBoring Software. Field denied that the tool was heavily trained on existing apps but acknowledged QA shortcomings. The feature will be disabled until Figma can ensure reliable and original outputs.
